Succeeding In Life
To succeed in life, you need three things: a wishbone, a backbone and a funnybone. ~Reba McEntire
I read a book once Betsy another one of those life changing books for me, The Spirituality of Imperfection it was called. The fellow who wrote it was the only fellow who was ever given access to the AA archives who was not a recovering alcoholic.
It's all about the importance of story telling and why it is important, and stories act as guideposts for life helping us find our way.
Three of the most important things he said in life, humour, humility, and humanity. The root word of all these is humus...worm shit. A good reminder of where we come from and where we return.
humus...I think its also a sort of dip made from garbonzo beans...good point about the story telling aspect though. I think this is very true about it helping us find our way.
That's a good one, Betsy!
ReplyDeleteCertainly needed all three when giving that talk yesterday! :0)
ReplyDeleteThank you both for your comments. I think we need all three all the time!
ReplyDeleteA good quote from Reba.
